There was an interesting news update posted on roadandtrack.com regarding some surprising news - the longtime lead engineer for the Chevrolet Camaro, Al Oppenheiser, will soon take on the lead role in GM's electric-car development.
As noted in the article, Al Oppenheiser's LinkedIn profile lists his tenure at as the chief engineer of the Camaro since 2005.
Because of his success at Camaro, and the launching of the "...final variant of this generation of Camaro, so the time is right..." as Chevy spokesperson Mike Alban explained to Car and Driver.
It will be interesting to follow Oppenheiser's new role as he becomes involved with leading the engineering efforts for GM's EVs and hybrids.
